This will serve as a formative assessment to monitor students' progress towards meeting the learning objectives of paragraph writing. By writing paragraphs on the topic of their choice, students will have the opportunity to demonstrate their writing skills while ensuring their work is free of spelling and grammar errors. The checkpoint will include a graphic organizer that will enable students to organize their thoughts and ideas. It will also help them identify key facts about their topic and where to find them. By providing students with this valuable tool, they will be able to enhance their writing skills, meet the learning objectives, and achieve their writing goals. In conclusion, a Graphic Organizer Paragraph Writing Checkpoint is an effective way to assess students' progress and help them excel in their writing abilities. By providing them with the necessary tools, they will be able to produce high-quality paragraphs and reach their full potential. 1. To ensure that each student's paragraph is well-written and effective, I will be collecting data by reviewing their work. To achieve this, I will provide each student with a helpful graphic organizer and detailed instructions on how to use it. I understand that time is precious, so the organizer will be due in one week, giving the students ample time to brainstorm and organize their ideas. By utilizing the organizer, students will be able to develop the framework for their paragraph, making the writing process smoother and more efficient. I will be keeping a close eye on their use of the organizer and their final paragraph, ensuring that each student is able to produce a piece of writing that is well thought-out and effective. 2. When the students finish writing their paragraphs, I will collect them and provide constructive feedback to each student. I will acknowledge their strengths and encourage them to improve their areas of opportunity. I will address how well they have written their paragraphs and provide suggestions to enhance the quality of their work. I will also point out any grammar or spelling mistakes while offering positive feedback. For example, I may say, "You have a great start to your paragraph, but we can work together to improve some of the grammar and spelling errors. Overall, I am impressed with your effort and writing skills."
